SUDBURY -- A 15-year-old from Markstay-Warren has been charged with the domestic assault of their romantic partner.

Provincial police say officers from the Nipissing West detachment responded to a dispute at a home in the small community east of Greater Sudbury around 2 p.m. on July 3.

As a result, a 15-year-old was arrested and has been charged with spousal assault.

Const. Michelle Coulombe is the detachment's community safety officer.

"Since they are in an intimate relationship (boyfriend/girlfriend), it’s classified as a domestic," said Coulombe.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in court on July 30 in Sudbury. The allegation has not been proven in court.
