SUDBURY -- A 16-year-old is facing charges after someone broke into a convenience store in Lavigne at 3 a.m. June 12 and stole two bottles of liquor.
The Nipissing West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police received the call at 7:45 a.m. that day and arrived at the store, located on Highway 64 in West Nipissing.
"Investigation revealed, at approximately 3 a.m., the culprit forced their way into the business and stole two bottles of liquor," police said in a news release Tuesday.
"Shortly after reviewing the video surveillance footage and obtaining a description of the culprit, officers observed and arrested the person near the crime scene."
The youth, from West Nipissing, is charged with break and enter, theft under $5,000 and mischief under $5,000.
"The accused was released by way of an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Aug, 26, 2020, in North Bay," the release said.
The identity of the person charged can't be release because it is protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
