Teen charged after adult shot with a pellet gun in the Sault

A 13-year-old suspect has been charged after police in Sault Ste. Marie received a report of someone shooting at an adult with a pellet gun.

Police were called at 11:30 p.m. about a youth firing a pellet gun on John Street.

“Officers were dispatched to the area and located the accused in the area of Wellington Street West and Boydell Place,” Sault police said in a news release Monday.

“Upon speaking with the accused, they revealed their pellet gun to officers. They were arrested.”

Charges include assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon.

“The victim did not sustain any physical injuries,” police said.

“The victim and the accused are not known to one another.”

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 27.
