SUDBURY -- A young man charged in connection with a fatal stabbing in downtown Sudbury Friday remains in custody at the Sudbury jail.

The incident happened on Cedar Street and the 17-year-old male victim was rushed to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Now, 18-year-old Steffin Rees faces one charge of second- degree murder, and made a brief court appearance Monday.

He will be back in court Nov. 21.

There’s no word on the motive in the stabbing.

Police say there are not seeking any additional suspects at this time.

They say Rees and the victim knew each other.

Police are not releasing the name of the victim out of respect for the family's wishes.
