Shortly after 7 pm Tuesday Ontario Provincial Police officers in Temiskaming Shores responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle at the Temiskaming Square Mall.

Police say they found the vehicle with three occupants inside and the person in the driver’s seat was slumped over the steering wheel.

After speaking to the occupants, the driver was arrested for drug impaired vehicle control.

A search of the vehicle produced suspected drugs, Hydromorph Contin and fentanyl patches, along with two rifles and ammunition.

The driver was sent to hospital for tests.

As a result of an investigation, a 49-year-old woman from Notre Dame du Nord, Quebec was charged with the following:

  • Transport Firearm, Prohibited Device or Ammunition in a Carless Manner x 4 contrary to section 86(1) of the Criminal Code (CC);
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm x 2 contrary to section 92(1) of the CC;
  • Care or Control While Impaired by Drug contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the CC; and
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Opioid x 2 contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). 

She was released on recognizance and is to appear in court on December 11th in Haileybury.
