Suspect with long history of B&Es arrested again in Elliot Lake

A 49-year-old suspect with a history of being charged with break-and-enters in Elliot Lake is facing similar charges.

“East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police arrested the same person again while in custody, for numerous previous residential break, enter, and thefts,” police said in a news release Thursday.

“After police received additional digital evidence, the same person was charged for break-and-enters to residences on Dieppe Avenue and Milliken Road that occurred in late December 2023 and early January 2024. Numerous items were also stolen.”

The Elliot Lake resident is charged with two counts of break and enter, one count of break and enter to steal a firearm, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and one count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The accused is already in custody and was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Sault Ste. Marie.
