SUDBURY -- A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a knife attack on Kathleen Street, Greater Sudbury Police said early Friday afternoon.

He is being charged with assault, police said in a tweet.

"This is an isolated and targeted incident as the individuals are known to each other," police said. "No threat to general public."

Just after noon, police tweeted that officers responded to a report of an assault on a main road in the Donovan neighbourhood and asked the public to avoid Morin Street.

"Incident believed to involve a man and a woman," the tweet said. "Man fled the scene on foot. Woman safe at this time (with) minor injuries."

Police canine and tactical units  headed to the scene and quickly located the suspect.
