Suspect ignited propane cannister explosion at ex-partner's residence in Kapuskasing, Ont.

A 30-year-old who was on probation has been charged with arson and causing an explosion in a case of intimate partner violence in Kapuskasing on Tuesday.
Ontario Provincial Police responded to a 911 call at 6 p.m. to an incident on Stewart Avenue.
"A small propane canister was intentionally ignited, causing a loud explosion and damage to the interior of the residence," the OPP said in a news release Wednesday.
"The complainant was able to extinguish the fire before it spread. Shortly afterward, police located and arrested the suspect, who had fled the scene before their arrival."
A 30-year-old from Fauquier-Strickland has been charged with arson with disregard for human life, causing an explosion likely to cause bodily harm, death, or serious damage to property, mischief over $5,000 and four counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to next appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing on Nov. 29.
