A Sudbury woman, 32, is accused of impaired driving and having liquor and weed readily available after allegedly driving through a police sobriety check in Espanola.

Ontario Provincial Police from Manitoulin Island set up a checkpoint on Highway 6 near Foucault Road to reduce impaired driving when the woman failed to stop for officers shortly before midnight June 21.

"A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle a short distance from the RIDE program. Upon speaking with the driver, police were able to determine the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages," police said in a news release Monday.

"The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing."

As a result, the woman is charged with dangerous operation, impaired driving with a blood alcohol concentration of more than 80, driving a vehicle with both cannabis and liquor readily available, failing to surrender driver's licence, failing to stop for police and operating a vehicle without insurance.

Her licence has been suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

She is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 6 in Espanola.
