Sudbury veterans raise North America's largest poppy flag

Share

It was an emotional scene on Friday night in Greater Sudbury as legion members and veterans raised a poppy flag.

"You know once Halloween ends and we start thinking about Remembrance Day, and it's important to remember not just on the eleventh but everyday of the sacrifice that were made and the people who really stood for us, for our freedom," said Sudbury MPP Jamie West.

It is the largest poppy flag in North America, measuring 15 by 30 feet.

"It's just a sign of support and every veteran out there sees that and it's hard to explain but when we as veterans see that, it's a little - a bit of support," veteran Daryl Adams told CTV News.

For the next two weeks, leading up to Remembrance Day, the flag will greet those travelling along the Kingsway in Sudbury.
