SUDBURY -- The City of Greater Sudbury is opening three licensed emergency child-care centres, to support health care and front-line workers.

These emergency child-care facilities are funded by the province and will be located in existing locations: two in Lively and one in downtown Sudbury.

"We’re doing our best, at every level of government, to ensure those who are protecting us, and those who are keeping us safe are receiving some help in return," says Sudbury Mayor Brian Bigger.

"If this can be a source of financial or even mental relief for those working hard during this outbreak, it is the least we can provide."

Emergency child care is available at no cost for children age 12 months to 12 years.

Services will operate Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

This no-cost, emergency child-care service is reserved exclusively for children of critical service workers, as identified by the Province of Ontario, who do not have the ability to work from home and have no other alternatives.
