Sudbury suspect assaults police one day after being freed on bail
Two police officers in Greater Sudbury required medical attention for injuries they received arresting a man for the second time in just two days.
The 29-year-old suspect was first arrested Oct. 2 at a residence on Dana Street.
"When officers arrived on scene and tried to escort (him) off the premises, he was uncooperative," police said in a news release Friday.
He was charged with failing to comply with a release order and resisting arrest and was released on bail the same day.
Then at 5 a.m. Oct. 3, police were called to Elgin Street to respond to an unwanted person – the same 29-year-old man.
"Information provided indicated a man was behaving in an aggressive manner toward several individuals at the establishment, causing a disturbance by banging on doors and refusing to leave the premises," police said.
"Officers arrived on scene and located the unwanted person who was escorted off the premises, during which he became combative with police."
When they tried to take him into custody, the man tried to run away.

"During this interaction the man continued to resist arrest and proceeded to assault officers," the release said.
"Both officers required medical attention for their injuries."
He was eventually taken into custody and was charged again, this time with two counts of assaulting police and one charge each of resisting arrest and causing a disturbance.
He is now in the Sudbury District Jail and will appear in court on Oct. 10.
