SUDBURY -- The City of Greater Sudbury is getting over $300,000 from Ottawa to take measures to stop the spread of the virus among the homeless.

Officials will be closing the Off the Street Emergency Shelter downtown, as it can't keep up the physical distancing necessary.

Instead, it is taking over a floor of a South End hotel, Canada's Best Value Inn on Regent Street for the next three months and the homeless will be housed there.

An isolation area will also be set up on the second floor.

The new place will be ready for April 15.
