SUDBURY -- COVID-19 cases continue to climb in Greater Sudbury, with three new infections confirmed on Saturday.

According to Public Health Sudbury & Districts, two are located in the city of Greater Sudbury, while the third is from the Manitoulin District.

Of these latest infections, one is said to be tied to a recent outbreak, although which outbreak wasn’t specified by health officials. The source of the other two cases remains under investigation.

The city of Greater Sudbury has seen its highest number of cases this month since the start of the pandemic. Since Nov. 3, multiple infections have been confirmed by health officials every day.

As such, the health unit will be moving into the yellow level of the provincial COVID-19 response framework.

In a news release Friday, Public Health said our new status includes measures such as limited hours of operations for certain settings, reduced recreational program sizes, additional enforcements and fines, and enhanced education in high-risk settings.
