Sudbury police search for suspect behind several gas thefts
A suspect driving a Pontiac G6 sedan fled from police in Sudbury on July 14. Further investigation revealed the same vehicle was spotted in several gas thefts in the city beginning in June.
The most recent incident took place just after 2:50 p.m. on Larch Street downtown when police noticed the vehicle had unattached plates.
“Once on David Street, the officer initiated the emergency lights on the marked police cruiser to conduct a traffic stop, however, the driver of the vehicle did not stop and sped away at a high speed,” police said in a news release Thursday.
“Out of a concern for public safety, the officer did not pursue the vehicle.”
A database search soon uncovered that the vehicle was involved in several gas thefts between June 21 and July 14.
