Sudbury police say Dowling death being treated as a homicide

Greater Sudbury Police said Friday the death of a man in Dowling this week is now a homicide investigation.

Police found the man in a Sturgeon Street residence at 10:55 a.m. on May 11. While he was at first reported as being unconscious, police say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Based on the evidence collected at the crime scene and the blunt-force injuries discovered during the post mortem conducted through the coroner’s office, this incident is now being investigated as a homicide," police said in a news release.

"Through the post-mortem, the identity of the man has been confirmed. His name will not be released as officers are in the process of notifying his next of kin."
