Sudbury police looking for sexual assault suspect after random attack

Sudbury police are looking for a male suspect after a random attack and sexual assault in a residential area of the Donovan on Monday night.

"Around 9:30 p.m., a community member was outside of their residence when they were confronted by an unknown individual. An altercation took place and the unknown individual forced the community member inside the residence," police said in a news release.

"The unknown individual assaulted, threatened and then sexually assaulted the community member inside the residence before fleeing the area."

Officers were called around 10:30 p.m. to the home in the area of Baker Street, Montcalm Avenue, Patterson Street and MacKenzie Street near two schools – Marymount Academy and Sudbury Secondary School.

The suspect is described as a male in his late 20s, six feet tall with tanned skin and buzz-cut hair.

"At the time of the incident, the individual was wearing a dark blue hoodie, black pants and black running shoes," police said.

"The individuals involved in this incident are not known to each other."

As police continue to investigate and canvas the area looking for video surveillance footage, they are advising the public to be extra cautious and be on the lookout.

"Anyone with video surveillance equipment in the area including dash camera footage at the time of the incident and doorbell camera footage is asked to review the footage and contact police if there is anything suspicious," police said.

"Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to contact police at 705-675-9171 or Crime Stoppers at 705-222-8477."
