Update:

Sudbury police says they are working with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office to investigate the cause of a fire on Romeo Street in the Greater Sudbury community of Val Caron on April 9.

Police officials say the Tuesday night fire is being treated as suspicious and investigators are canvassing the area for information.

According to police, a neighbour saw smoke coming from the residence and called 911.

The homeowners were not in the house at the time.

Officers will remain on scene during the ongoing investigation.

Police are asking anyone with video surveillance footage in the area, who saw anything suspicious or may have information about this incident to call 705-675-9171 or report anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 705-222-8477.

Sudbury firefighters were called to the scene of a house fire Tuesday night.

It happened in the Greater Sudbury community of Val Caron at around 8 pm.

Officials say no one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $200,000.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly, but remained putting out hot spots.

Crews are investigating the cause with the assistance of the Ontario Fire Marshal's office.

Sudbury fire officials in Sudbury say it had been a busy day, with two other calls to kitchen fires.
