SUDBURY -- A 36-year-old Sudbury man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run on Regent Street on Aug. 28 that left a man lying on the roadway with serious injuries.

In a news release Monday, Greater Sudbury Police said they identified the vehicle and driver involved in the collision on Aug. 31.

"Through the investigation, it was determined that the 30-year-old man who sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision was seen lying in the middle of the roadway prior to being struck by the vehicle," police said.

The suspected driver is now charged with fail to remain at the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident. He will be in court Oct. 5 to answer to the charges.

The 30-year-old man remains in hospital in stable condition.

"We would like to thank the community members who provided us with assistance with this case," police said.
