SUDBURY -- Sudbury officers responding to a suspicious persons complaint arrested three people and seized more than $13,000 in suspected cocaine and fentanyl, police officials said in a news release.

The call came in shortly before 11:30 a.m. on Sunday about a group of people who were seen entering an underground parking lot off of Elgin Street in downtown Sudbury.

Officers approached a vehicle with three people inside and reportedly saw a bag of suspected fentanyl in plain sight on the driver's seat.

The trio was arrested and while searching the suspects, officers found more drugs believed to be fentanyl and cocaine packaged for sale, three knives, as well as a total of more than $800 in cash.

As a result, the driver, a 19-year-old woman and two men, 18 and 24, have been charged with drug trafficking, having a prohibited weapon, having a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and property obtained by crime under $5,000.

All three of the accused were released and are scheduled to appear in court on Mar. 24.

None of the allegations has been proven in court.
