Sudbury pedestrian, 92, struck and killed by debris from downtown crash
A 92-year-old pedestrian was killed by flying debris from a two-vehicle crash at a busy downtown Sudbury intersection Wednesday morning.
The crash happened shortly after 9:45 a.m. at Lloyd Street and Paris Street, Sudbury police said in a news release.

"Based on the investigation, it has been determined that two vehicles were involved in a collision causing debris from one of the vehicles to strike a 92-year-old, woman on the sidewalk," police said.
"Community members in the area immediately began life-saving measures and called emergency services."

She was taken to hospital by ambulance but was pronounced dead by medical professionals.
The collision is still being investigated.
"Our deepest condolences go out to her family and friends," police said.
"Her identity will not be provided out of respect for the family’s wishes."
Anyone who witnessed the crash or was driving in the area at the time with a dash camera is asked to contact police at 705-675-9171.

"Westbound lanes of Lloyd Street at Paris Street are closed while officers are on scene," Sudbury police said on social media around 10 a.m.

"Motorists will experience delays and are asked to find an (alternate) route."
Yellow police tape has cordoned off the northbound lanes of Paris Street.
A white car with major front-end damage can be seen in the middle of the northbound lanes of Paris Street and debris can be seen in the eastern half of the intersection.
Meanwhile, a grey pickup truck with damage to the driver's side rear door is parked on the wrong side of Paris Street in the northbound lanes facing south just before the crosswalk and behind police caution tape.
No word on what caused the crash, if anyone else was injured or if any charges are pending.
An officer was on scene directing traffic.
