Sudbury mental health group hosting dinner game show fundraiser

A peer-led community mental health organization in Sudbury is planning a unique fundraiser this fall.
Northern Initiative For Social Action (NISA) offers peer mental health programming and other supports in the community and has been for the past 26 years.
Right now, NISA has more than 600 members.
"I think this community is very aware of mental health and the importance of having these kinds of services," said Marty Boucher, NISA's executive director.
"A lot of people are having a hard time in our community. So it’s really important for us to be able to continue to offer these services and fundraisers like these help us really innovate and help people where they need it."
The non-profit is planning a major fundraising event called 'Sudbury Family Dispute,' where community partners will form teams and answer mental health-based trivia questions.
The dinner, art auction and game show will take place at the Caruso Club on Nov. 14.
"Mental health is very important to me, spreading awareness said Mark Gagne, Mindmelt Studio team captain.
"I myself struggle with mental health – depression, anxiety -- and it also inspires a lot of the artwork that I do. So it was important for me to be a part of it."
Tickets are $100 each, including a $60 tax receipt, and are available online on eventbrite or at NISA on Elgin Street.
