SUDBURY -- Police in Chapleau have charged a 45-year-old man from the Sudbury area with stunt driving, drug possession and driving without a license.

Superior East Ontario Provincial Police were patrolling at 5:50 p.m. on June 25 on Highway 101 near Shoals Provincial Park.

"Officers observed an eastbound motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed," police said in news release Wednesday. "The radar reading for the vehicle was 133 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. A traffic stop was initiated and further investigation revealed that the driver was suspended and in possession of suspected methamphetamine pills."

The driver, who is from Valley East, was charged and released. He is scheduled to appear in court in Chapleau on Aug. 17.
