Sudbury man, 68, killed in Lasalle Blvd. collision

A 68-year-old man was killed Friday evening in Sudbury when he was struck by a vehicle while he was walking on Lasalle Boulevard.

The crash took place around 9:55 p.m. near the strip mall at 761 Lasalle, Sudbury police said in a news release Monday morning.

"Members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service, Greater Sudbury Fire Services and Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services were dispatched to the scene," police said.

"Upon arrival, officers located the pedestrian who had sustained serious, life-threatening injuries. The pedestrian was transported to hospital by paramedics."

He was pronounced dead on Dec. 1.

"Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends." Police said.

 

"Based on the investigation, it is believed that the pedestrian was walking in the centre lane when he was struck by an SUV travelling west on Lasalle Boulevard. The driver of the involved vehicle remained on scene."

The investigation is ongoing police said. Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact police at 705-675-9171.
