SUDBURY -- A 29-year-old Sudbury man is facing charges following an incident on Beatty Street on Tuesday morning.

Officials with Greater Sudbury Police said they received a call at 8:25 a.m. regarding a disturbance at a residence on Beatty Street. Once officers arrived on scene it was determined the man was in crisis after a dispute had taken place.

“Immediately officers contained the area and surrounding area for public safety all the while negotiations were continuing with the man,” said Sarah Kaelas of Greater Sudbury Police Service.

"Just before 11 a.m. officers were able to deescalate the situation to a peaceful negotiation."

Kaelas said officers remain on scene while a search warrant is pending.

The man at the centre of the incident is being charged with uttering threats to cause bodily harm, possession of a dangerous weapon, assault with a weapon and break and enter.
