SUDBURY -- A Sudbury couple has won $28,450 in Health Science North's first-ever 50/50 Cash Lottery for the North.
Larry and Jane Fish's ticket, A-1576538 was the winner in the new monthly hospital fundraiser.
"I am absolutely thrilled! I have never won anything. What a wonderful surprise," said Larry. "Supporting health care in my community and winning over $28,000 is a win/win in my eyes."
He has been an employee at the hospital for over 35 years.
A new contest has begun for July and has a guaranteed minimum prize of $5,000.
By purchasing tickets for the draw, half of the proceeds go to support patient care at the northern Ontario hospital, including the cancer treatment centre, pediatric unit, and the purchase of medical equipment.
Ontario residents 18 years and older are able to buy tickets online. The jackpot total is updated in real-time on the website.
The next draw is happening at 11 a.m. on July 31.
