Sudbury bike patrol officer takes down accused downtown drug dealer
A Sudbury police officer patrolling downtown on a bicycle arrested a suspect after allegedly seeing a drug deal go down on Cedar Street on Wednesday.
The officer from the community response unit spotted a suspected drug dealer exchanging cash for suspected illicit drugs just before 2 p.m. Nov. 29, Sudbury police said in a news release Thursday.
Without being noticed by the two people involved in the exchange, the officer was able to approach and allegedly witness what happened.
The 53-year-old suspected drug dealer was arrested and the officer called for backup.
"Upon searching the individual, officers located additional drugs believed to be fentanyl, a notebook, packaging materials and $160 in cash," police said.
"In total, officers seized close to 17 grams of drugs with an estimated street value of $5,600."

The man has been charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and having property obtained by crime.
He was held in custody overnight and is scheduled to appear in bail court Thursday.
No charges were laid against the person who allegedly bought drugs.
None of the allegations has been proven in court.
