NORTH BAY -- style="margin:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt"> Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested the same person twice in less than a week for impaired driving.

Police received a tip around 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 regarding a possibly impaired woman who left The Beer Store on Front Street in Sturgeon Falls after the employee refused to serve her.

A short time later, officers say they found the 54-year-old local woman asleep in her car in store's parking lot.

Police allege the woman had been consuming alcohol and drugs and was charged with impaired driving, along with failing to provide required documents.

Six days later, police officials say an officer returned to the scene just before noon to follow up with the witness when they noticed the same car idling in the parking lot.

Police say the same woman was sitting in the driver's seat and allegedly had drugs and alcohol in her system again.

Another impaired driving charge was laid, as well as a three-day warn range suspension.

On both occasions the accused was released.

The woman is scheduled to appear in court in Sturgeon Falls in Feb. 6.

These charges mark 60 impaired driving occurrences in the Nipissing West Detachment area in 2019.

Police say the public should expect officers to be out at all times during the day and night for RIDE checks and are encouraging the public to call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone is behind the wheel while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
