SUDBURY -- A 20-year-old resident of Sturgeon Falls is facing shoplifting charges in connection with two thefts from the liquor store earlier this month.

The first incident took place Nov. 12 when the LCBO on Front Street contacted the Ontario Provincial Police about a suspected shoplifter.

"After reviewing video surveillance footage, investigation revealed the culprit concealed several bottles of liquor and exited the store without paying," police said in a news release Tuesday. "The individual was identified by officers but could not be located."

The second theft took place Nov. 17, when the same person stole $175 in liquor from the same store.

"Shortly thereafter, officers located and arrested the accused a short distance away," police said.

The 20-year-old was charged with theft under $5,000 and was released with a court date of Dec. 3 in Sturgeon Falls.
