Stunt driving stop leads to impaired driving arrest in Cochrane
A traffic stop early Friday morning in Cochrane ended with impaired driving charges, as well as stunt driving.
Ontario Provincial Police stopped the vehicle at 12:30 a.m. after an officer saw a vehicle travelling at 105 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Concession Road 2&3.
"The vehicle was stopped in a commercial parking lot on Western Avenue," the OPP said in a news release Saturday.
"It was determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol, and the officer then made a breath demand into an approved screening device of which the driver failed to comply."
A 39-year-old Cochrane resident has been charged with refusing to comply with a demand and stunt driving.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Dec. 10 in Cochrane.
The accused was also issued a 90-day driver's licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
"A refusal charge carries with it the same penalties as impaired driving, which if convicted, may include fines, imprisonment, and a further licence suspension of at least one year," police said.
"The OPP would like to remind the public that if you see a possible impaired driver on our roadways, waterways, or trails, please 'make the call' and dial 911."
