Stuck snowplow blocks half dozen homes on rural road in Greater Sudbury
Residents along a rural road in Greater Sudbury were blocked in Thursday morning after a snowplow got stuck after backing into a ditch.
The vehicle blocked residents in about six homes on Treeview Road, off Long Lake Road in Sudbury’s South End.

The city said the vehicle was a contractor plow clearing the road for the municipality. Deputy fire chief Jesse Oshell said he was notified of the blockage Thursday morning.
Oshell said fire services made a temporary plan in case there was an emergency, since access would have been temporarily restricted.
"Travelling as close to the scene as they can get, and then where possible, proceeding on foot," he said.
"That will limit what our responders can do for a period of time until we can get those resources right up to the scene to support them."
Oshell said temporary impediments tend to happen more often in the winter and include issues like water main breaks or road access.

“It can have an impact in the short term, but we're still going to come and we're still going to take actions to mitigate that emergency," he said.
It’s unclear how long the residents were blocked in before the plow was removed.
