SUDBURY -- In the early afternoon of Oct. 8, Sault police were notified by 9-1-1 dispatch in Michigan that two men were stranded in the area of Gros Cap after experiencing motor trouble.

Gross Cap is an area located on the shores of Lake Superior approx. 20 minutes west of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.

It is home to the Gross Cap Conservation Area and the Gross Cap Bluffs.

Officers were able to communicate with the men who were told to wait for assistance and were able to reach the shoreline safely where they waited for the police.

Police on service ATVs located the two boaters and transported them to safety.

Police say the men did not sustain any injuries and did not require medical attention.

"The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service wants to remind everyone accessing the outdoors to let someone know where you are going, when you plan to be back and a means of contact," said Sault police in a Oct.10 news release.
