Standoff in Sudbury's Lively neighbourhood has ended

A standoff in the Sudbury community of Lively has ended.

The 23-year-old man exited the residence on 7th Avenue and surrendered without incident just after 2 pm.

Greater Sudbury Police Service is asking people to stay away from the area of 7th Avenue in Lively.

Police say officers responded to a man in distress just before 1 pm on Wednesday, July 17.

They say the man is contained inside a residence and that there is no threat to public safety.

Road access to 7th Avenue between Maple Street and C Street is restricted.

Sudbury police say for the safety of the officers, do NOT live stream pictures or videos of the officers on the scene.

There is an ongoing incident occurring in the area of 7th Ave in Lively. Police are containing the scene. Community members are asked to stay away from the area. For the safety of everyone involved, the public is also asked to refrain from posting any images of Police online.

. Officers responded individual in distress. The man is the only person inside the residence & the scene is contained by members of the Tactical Unit, as well as Uniform Patrol. There is no threat to public safety at this time. We ask that community members remain away from area.
