SUDBURY -- Spouses ages 20 and 21 are each facing assault charges following an Oct. 12 incident in Cartier.

Sudbury Ontario Provincial Police responded to the call at 6:25 p.m. Oct. 12 about a domestic dispute in the community.

"Investigation revealed both parties had assaulted one another, resulting in minor injuries," police said Friday. "They were subsequently arrested and charged."

The 21-year-old, from Cartier, is charged with spousal assault, while the 20-year-old, from Sudbury, is charged with assaulting their spouse with a weapon.

Both accused were released on an undertaking and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Nov. 13 in Sudbury. The OPP no longer releases the gender of people they charge with crimes.
