Southern Ont. man charged with attempted murder in Timmins shooting

One of two men wanted for attempted murder in Timmins has been arrested, while a warrant has been issued for the second suspect, who fled police on foot.

The suspects were found during an early morning traffic stop May 11 in the city.

“Two males were identified as being involved in the weapons incident on Sixth Avenue on May 7,” Timmins police said in a news release Monday.

The suspect in custody is a 20-year-old from Markham, who is accused of attempted murder, firearms offences and driving violations in connection with the car crash that happened after the shooting.

“He is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing,” police said.

In the original incident, Timmins police responded to a weapons incident shortly before 6:30 a.m. May 7. One man was found on Sixth Avenue with a gunshot wound, police said in a news release. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
