SUDBURY -- Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for many northeastern Ontario communities Wednesday morning as rain continues.

Overnight, Environment Canada said 15 to 25 mm rain has fallen since Tuesday night and an additional 10 to 20 mm rain is expected Wednesday morning.

The rain is expected to taper off late morning to around noon.

Communities affected include:

  • Blind River - Thessalon
  • Elliot Lake – Ranger Lake
  • Espanola - Killarney
  • Gogama – Foleyet
  • Greater Sudbury and vicinity
  • Kirkland Lake - Englehart
  • Manitoulin Island
  • North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa
  • Temiskaming Shores – Temagami
  • West Nipissing - French River

Further north, from Upsala to Fort Hope – Lansdowne House, rain is expected to continue into Thursday with thunderstorms and heavy rain bringing up to 50 mm.
