Smoking believed to have caused North Bay fire

There was ahouse fire Monday morning in North Bay that has left one person displaced.

Firefighters responded within four minutes to a call on Kingsway Avenue just after 9 am.

Fire officials believe careless smoking may have started the fire.

A woman, the lone occupant, was quickly removed from the home.

Greg Saunders is North Bay’s deputy fire chief.

"People just need to take extreme care when they’re smoking and need to make sure to fully extinguish smoking materials." said Saunders.

The woman was not injured in the fire.

There is no damage estimate at this time.
