The province’s Special Investigations Unit is appealing for witnesses to an incident last week in Sudbury between a 37-year-old man and Greater Sudbury Police.

On May 22 at 4 p.m., officers approached “a vehicle of interest” near the intersection of Cedar and Paris streets.

“The male driver of the vehicle had outstanding warrants for his arrest,” the SIU said in a news release Friday.

“When officers attempted to arrest the man, a struggle ensued. The man was eventually handcuffed and transported to the police station.”

While at the police station, the man complained that he was in pain and was taken to hospital.

“He was diagnosed with a serious injury,” the release said.

“Three investigators have been assigned to the case.”

Anyone who may have information about this case, including video or photos, is asked to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or online.
