NORTH BAY – Ontario Provincial Police say a single-vehicle crash has led to the 55th impaired driving charge, this year, in the North Bay area.

Officers were called to investigate a crash on Highway 11 in Callander at 2:30 a.m. Monday morning.

Police say the car hit a rock cut and landed back on the highway blocking the southbound lanes.

The driver, a 39-year-old man from of Chisholm Township, was arrested at the scene for impaired driving and failing to comply with officers.

Police released the man on a Promise to Appear and he is scheduled to appear at the North Bay courthouse on Nov. 19.

He has been given a 90-day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension and the vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

Police say this incident brings the total number of impaired driving charges to 55 within the North Bay detachment area in 2019. In 2018, North Bay OPP charged 49 drivers with impaired driving.
