NORTH BAY -- Police and fire officials are investigating a house fire in North Bay on Wednesday morning.

Crews were called out to the blaze on Algonquin Avenue shortly before 10 a.m.

Officials say the fire started on the main floor of the home, and flames were extinguished quickly.

No one was home at the time, but seven pets, including cats and dogs, perished in the blaze.

There is no word on a cause, but fire officials are not treating it as suspicious.
