Serious crash closed Hwy. 11 in northern Ont. for 12 hours

A pickup truck and a commercial motor vehicle collided head-on Sunday on Highway 11 near Hallébourg, leaving the pickup driver with serious injuries.

Ontario Provincial Police said the roadway between Hearst and Kapuskasing was closed for 12 hours following the crash.

“On Aug. 11 around 3:30 p.m., the James Bay OPP, Cochrane District Emergency Medical Services and the Hearst Fire Department responded to a serious head-on (collision) involving two vehicles,” police said in a news release Monday.

“The driver of the CMV suffered minor injuries and the driver of the pickup truck suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup truck required extrication from the vehicle and was transported to hospital.”

The OPP's Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team is helping with the investigation, police said.

“Further information will be released as it becomes available,” the release said.
