SUDBURY -- A 29-year-old Sault Ste. Marie man is facing charges after he tried to shoplift $145 in items from a McNabb Street business.

The incident took place Oct. 23 just after 7:30 p.m. when the suspect tried to leave without paying for the items.

"Security staff approached the accused asking for the items to be returned," Sault police said in a news release Monday.

"The accused resisted and bit a security staff member. Security was able to gain control of the accused and held him for police."

The 29-year-old has been charged with robbery and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 30.
