Sault woman charged with assault for throwing hypodermic needles

A 24-year-old woman has been charged with assault with a weapon following a confrontation between two strangers Tuesday in Sault Ste. Marie.
Around 2:45 p.m., a 911 call came in and police were dispatched to deal with an incident on Queen Street East.
“Although the accused had left prior to officers’ arrival, an investigation revealed they had thrown hypodermic needles at a victim, who had attempted to stop them from bothering someone,” Sault police said in a news release Wednesday.
“The accused and victims are unknown to one another. No physical injuries were sustained.”
Police found the suspect on Bay Street and charged them with assault with a weapon.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on July 8.
