Sault suspect charged with stabbing after argument escalates

An 18-year-old has been charged with aggravated assault after a dispute between two people ended with a knife attack in Sault Ste. Marie.

The incident took place July 20. Police responded to a report of a serious assault on Goulais Avenue. The suspect was arrested near Second Line West and a knife was located nearby.

“An investigation revealed the accused had gotten into an altercation with someone known to them and stabbed them in the torso,” police said in a news release Monday.

“The victim was transported to hospital with life-threatening physical injuries.”

The accused was released after being charged with aggravated assault. A court date is scheduled for Aug. 12.
