Sault suspect brandished bear spray, came at victim with a knife
A 26-year-old suspect has been arrested in Sault Ste. Marie for an incident that took place in early April.
The suspect was taken into custody Sunday and charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and several other offences.
The charges stem from an April 2 incident when police received reports of someone brandishing weapons on Gore Street.
“Although the accused had left prior to officers’ arrival, an investigation revealed the accused had brandished bear spray and made slashing motions with a knife toward a victim when they were asked to leave the victim’s property,” Sault police said in a news release Monday.
“As the accused was leaving, they verbally threatened to damage the victim’s property. A warrant was obtained for their arrest.”
The suspect was located on Wellington Street on Sunday. They were arrested after trying to flee the area.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
