Sault Ste. Marie suspect smashed 74 parking meters, causing $40K damage
Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is asking the public for help identifying a suspect captured on video smashing dozens of parking meters, stealing change and causing more than $40,000 in damage.

The man was in the downtown area of Queen Street East the evening of Aug. 1 when it happened, Crime Stoppers said in a news release Thursday.
Sault city officials told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca that 18 single-head and 27 double-headed meters were damaged in the incident.
An unknown amount of change was taken from the meters.
Video surveillance cameras captured the incident.
The suspect in the video appeared to have a slim build and was wearing beige-coloured pants, a black and maroon hooded jacket with black shoes with white soles.
He was carrying a green bag and a yellow-handled tool that he used to hit the parking meters.

"If you have any information to assist in identifying these suspects and your tip leads to an arrest, you may be eligible for a cash reward," Crime Stoppers said.
