Sault Ste. Marie Horticultural Society annual plant sale

Share

Plenty of sun and a long weekend is just what the gardeners of northern Ontario ordered.

Saturday’s annual Plant Sale in the Sault gave those with green thumbs plenty of options to get their gardens started this year.

The Sault Ste. Marie Horticultural Society has held this fundraiser event for more than a decade.

Seeds, shoots, and plants of all kinds were up for grabs, with funds heading toward the society and its efforts through the city.

Group officials said they expected to raise more than $5,000 at the event.

“We grow plants for the plant sale and we always collect donations from people’s perennial gardens too so we really enjoy this event,” said Andrea Aubertin with the horticultural society.

“People enjoy looking for different plants, seeing what’s out there, talking to gardeners. It’s a really fun even to kick off the season.”

The horticultural society plants the gardens around the canal district of the city and also supports a number of its memorial gardens.
