Sault police seize $96K in meth, fentanyl and cocaine

Police in Sault Ste. Marie charged a 36-year-old suspect with drug trafficking and other charges following a weekend raid of a residence on Robin Street.

A police investigation that began in July culminated in the seizure of more than $96,000 in drugs, including about 328 grams of suspected fentanyl, about 267 grams of suspected methamphetamine and about 205 grams of suspected cocaine.

Armed with a search warrant, on Sept. 21, police units including the drug enforcement unit, crime suppression unit, canine unit, emergency services unit and patrol services raided the residence located in the 0-100 block of Robin Street.

"The accused was located inside and arrested," Sault police said in a news release Monday.

In addition to the drugs, a search of the residence uncovered $190, weigh scales and packaging materials. Charges include trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.

The accused was held in custody pending an appearance in weekend and statutory holiday court and was released with conditions.

They are scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 28.
