SUDBURY -- Sault Ste. Marie police say one of the men they were looking for in a recent kidnap and assault case has died suddenly.

Police say they found out 28-year-old Caleb Seaton passed away unexpectedly in Barrie on Sunday. 

They say their investigation continues, and they are still looking for the second suspect, 32-year-old Tyler McMillan, in connection with the kidnapping and assault earlier this month.

On Nov. 8, a person was kidnapped and suffered a minor gunshot wound after an altercation on Huron Street.

Police say if McMillan is spotted, to not approach him and call 911 immediately.

SUDBURY – Police in Sault Ste. Marie are looking for two 'armed and dangerous' suspects after a person was kidnapped and then shot on Friday.

New details into the kidnapping and assault that happened on Nov. 8 are coming to light as the investigation continues.

Officials with Sault Ste. Marie Police Service say they are actively looking for 28-year-old Caleb Seaton and 32-year-old Tyler McMillan in connection to the violent incident.

They are both wanted by police, who say the pair should be "considered armed and dangerous." If you see them, do not approach them, but call 911 immediately.

Police say the victim allegedly entered their residence on the 100 block of Huron Street around 2 a.m. last Friday and then was confronted by three people with guns. They say the victim was taken from the residence at gunpoint and driven to an undisclosed area.  It was allegedly at the second location that the victim was shot, suffering minor injuries.

Police say after the shooting, the victim was taken to the 100 block of Willowdale Street, where they were able to call police.

So far, police say one person has been arrested and charged with the following:

  • Kidnapping using a firearm
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Discharging a firearm with intent
