An 18-year-old in Sault Ste. Marie has been charged after a victim was threatened by what later turned out to be a BB gun.

The incident took place Aug. 8. Police received a 911 call around 5:40 p.m. about an incident on Churchill Boulevard.

“An investigation revealed the accused had walked by a victim, who is unknown to the accused, lifted their shirt to reveal what appeared to be a firearm, pulled it out, and pointed it at the victim before walking away,” police said in a news release Friday.

“Officers learned the accused had stashed the firearm in a business in the area. It was recovered and found to be a BB gun.”
